For hosts that support IPMI sensors and IPMI event logs, LogicMonitor can gather than data and integrate it into the monitoring portal.
All that is required is that IPMI be enabled on the hosts, and the credentials ipmi.user and ipmi.pass be set for those hosts within Logicmonitor. If you enable IPMI on the host after you have already added the host into LogicMonitor, you can manually trigger Active Discovery to speed up the process of discovering the IPMI information.
If IPMI information is not showing up for hosts you expect it to be available on, check:
- that IPMI is enabled on the host, or on the hosts management card. Often IPMI support is disabled by default.
- that the IPMI user specified in the hosts IPMI configuration is allowed to connect remotely.
- For IPMI event log messages to be received, you must have a defined IPMI event source.
If you don't have IPMI event sources or datasources in your account, you can import them from the LogicMonitor repository.
