» Dashboards

Dashboards allow you to collect a customized, strategic view of your systems, presented in the way that is most relevant to you and your business.  Each user can have several dashboards, each presenting a different view of the LogicMonitor system.

Dashboards can be shared (so that all users can benefit from one person's layout) or private.  The status of a dashboard (shared or private) is noted in the drop down list used to select dashboards to display.  If a dashboard is shared, access can be granted to all users, or restricted to specific roles.   For further information, see Role Management.

Managing Dashboards

The following discussion assumes a user with the Manage Dashboards privilege - other users will see only a subset of the dashboards to manage, in accordance with the rights of their associated role.

To switch to the management view of dashboards, click the Manage Dashboards button in the top right of the screen.   You will then see a screen displaying containers for shared dashboards, and also for Users' Private dashboards.

Each user of the LogicMonitor system is listed, and you can expand their container to see their own dashboards, if any.

Creating New Dashboards

To create a new dashboard, select the container to create the dashboard in (either Shared Dashboards, or a specific user), then either right click and select New Dashboard, or click the New Dashboard button in the top left.  After entering the name and optional description, the new dashboard is created, allowing you to populate it with content as described under Managing Dashboard Widgets.

Deleting Dashboards

From the Dashboard management screen, simply right click the dashboard and select Delete, or select the dashboard and click the delete button in the top right.

Managing Dashboard Contents

While looking at a dashboard, you can perform the following actions.
To change the layout of a dashboard, simply click on the grey title bar of any widget, and drag it into the position you wish it to occupy, then release.

To removing Widgets from a Dashboard, simply click the Trashcan icon in the top right of every widget. (You can also delete a widget from a dashboard by using the Management view, right clicking the widget, and selecting Delete.)

For other operations, such as adding new content to a dashboard, see Managing Dashboard Widgets.
